Join us for a chat with a legend of the Northern Rockies!
Ken Groat is a long-standing resident of Brule with deep roots in the local wilderness and community history. As a key figure in the Rocky Mountain Wilderness Society, he is widely respected for his extensive knowledge of the region's trails and heritage. Alongside his family, Ken has dedicated years to the stewardship of the backcountry, performing vital maintenance and preservation work within the Willmore Wilderness Park.
Ken talks about life in the 1950s in Jasper and growing up in Brule. We also dig into his history as an outfitter, rodeo announcer, and stories of massive horse pack trips and animal encounters in the wilderness!
